How to carry a child lying down
Suitable for newborns to approx. 5 months

1.
Tie the shawl according to the instructions on the previous page or put your pre-tied shawl on.
Place the knot in front of your shoulder or on your back.
Make sure the fabric is evenly distributed over the shoulder.
2.
Place your child over your shoulder.
Slip the shawl around the child and your arm.
Make sure the child has fabric under its head, back, bottom and at least the main part of the legs.
Then remove your arm.
3.
Check that the child is lying comfortably.
The baby’s back should be turned to the floor and the front facing the ceiling. The child should lie with its head in the same height as your breast. When breastfeeding you place the child facing your tummy as you normally would when breast feeding.

If your child has fallen asleep in your arms you can continue to hold the child without waking it up,
simultaneously put the pre-tied Bära-barn-shawl on and place the child in it. The baby will sleep
safe and sound in the shawl.
